Today was a day of mourning for the ones that fell victim to the world's cruelty. 298 innocent people, of which 193 were my countrymen, died in a plane crash on Thursday 17th of July in the Ukraine, near the Russian border. It is one of the most tragic incidents of the Dutch recent history.
But amidst the sadness there is also love and compassion. The spirit of the Dutch will carry on in the deceased, and will help us overcome this tragedy. We will emerge from this, with an even greater spirit.
May the deceased rest in peace.
